Mods, continued
The mods keep comming- Here is the suspension
As everyone who has a buggy knows, once you start, you cant stop!!!! These are some more mods I have completed, and hope it helps you with yours!!!!!
Keep looking for updates!!!!
The suspension!!!!
I started with the rear shocks and worked my way forward. The rear shocks were a huge find on Ebay!!! at the awesome cost of 30 bux shipped, I got a pair of Yamaha Blaster front shocks. They are 12.5 inches eye to eye, which is a perfect fit to the stock dune shocks, which were just a little too stiff for my back!!! A softer landing means longer lasting components throughout the buggy!!!!
Wheat Field
Due to damage from a ride in a coal mine, I had to upgrade the fron suspension a bit!!! More pics on my pics pages, but here is the gist:
Coming down a mountian at TAMAQUA coal mine, PA, I must have broken or craked the top eye-bolt of the driverside front shock. I did not know it was broken, and rode for about 10 more minutes. I saw a fellow buggy broken on the side a large, wide flat path, and decided to turn around and check out his problem... As I U-Turned, the driverside shock shot up in the air about a foot, and fell back between the a-arms, and the buggy took a nose dive. I immediately stopped to check what happened, only to be shocked to find the shock completely ripped out the lower mount off the a-arm, leaving a gaping hole in the a-arm... I also found that the Eye and bolt to the top of the shock were still on the buggy, but the rest of the shock was not!
This made it necessary to upgrade!!!!
Below, you can see a set of green shocks. They are Arctic Cat ZR 800 shocks. The needed to be rebuilt, but it was another steal from Ebay! They need a little stiffer springs, but for now, I am comfortable with the performance. As per the a-arms.... A bunch of 1/2 inch flat-stock steel made them practically bullet-proof!!! TAKE A LOOK!!!
You can see a little persuasion was needed to make it fit...
Bending out the ears just a little bit was almost all that was neccessaryto make them fit! They had long metal sleeves through the bushings that needed to be ground down flush with the bushing, and then they bolted right up to the widened brackets!!!! What a different feel on the rough terrain!!!!
CLICK AND MAKE IT BIGGER!!
Below you can see a new ball joint, and a couple comparison shots of the old and the new... Three out of four of the old ball joints were bent!!!!!!!!
Above, you can see the new front end... It sits about the same, and has a nice thick-strong front end!!!
Amond upgrades, are the shocks as well as brand new, 14mm BALL JOINTS, direct from TOMBERLIN, and the Crossfire 150R.
